Captain Guy Plantagenet Bigg-Wither, Royal Navy (1 June, 1878 – 2 June, 1950) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

He was to be one of Herbert Richmond's sources of "information and encouragement within the Naval Staff" in the Training and Staff Duties Division.[1]

Life & Career

Bigg-Wither was born in Red Hill, Surrey and was raised by his mother.[2]

Bigg-Wither was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1900.[3] He married Gladys S. d'Asparato on 11 November, 1904.[4]

He was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1912.[5]

On 28 July, 1917, he married for a second time, to Winifred Helen Campbell.[6]

He was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1917.[7]

Post-War

In August 1920, he was appointed in command of the light cruiser Dartmouth.[8] On 14 August, 1921, he was placed in charge of H.M.S. Caradoc, remaining in command for about one year.[9]

Bigg-Wither was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 27 September, 1922.[10]

He succumbed to leukemia on 2 June, 1950.[11]
