Commander (retired) Guy Neville Rolfe, O.B.E., D.S.C.* (21 November, 1898 – 22 May, 1988)[1] served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of Captain H. W. Rolfe, R.N., retired was a Special Entry to the Training Establishment.

Rolfe was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 May, 1920.[2]

Rolfe was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 May, 1928.[3]

In 1936, he was cited for driving a car while drunk.[4]

World War II

Commanded Mendip (her first commander) from 1 July 1940 to 22 July. After a short course and vague appointment, he resumed command of Mendip, vice Drought on 7 June, 1942 in the acting rank of Commander.

Rolfe was placed on the Retired List at the rank of Commander on 21 November, 1943. On 16 and 17 December he was convicted at Court Martial for having hazarded H.M.S. Montrose. His severe reprimand was annulled for reasons that are difficult to read.[5]
