Lieutenant Gerald Leather, R.N. (11 August, 1889 – 5 September, 1914) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Cleckheaton.
Leather was promoted to the rank of Sub-Lieutenant on 15 July, 1909.
Leather was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 October, 1910.
Early in 1912: "not much ability or energy but tries his best"
Captain Ricardo of Vanguard noted that Leather was "careful and reliable", but that he had "not good chge of men".
Leather was appointed to Pathfinder in October 1913 for navigating duties and died when she was torpedoed by U 21 on 5 September 1914.
