Admiral Gerald Charles Langley, Royal Navy, Retired (13 October, 1848 – 18 April, 1914) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Early Life & Career

For services rendered during the operations in Egypt, Langley was specially promoted to the rank of Commander with seniority of 18 November, 1882.[1]

He was appointed Commander of the turret ship Agamemnon on the China Station on 16 September, 1884.[2]

Langley was appointed in command of the second-class protected cruiser Arethusa on 16 May, 1893.[3]

Langley was was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 1 July, 1902, vice Bosanquet,[4] and was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 20 November, 1906, vice Marrack.[5] In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 8 December, 1903, he was placed on the Retired List, at his own request, on 23 November.[6] He was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 10 February, 1911.[7]
