Captain George Henry Holden Holden (5 January, 1877 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy. His last name was "Wilkins" before being changed to Holden on 3 October, 1896.[1]

Life & Career

Holden was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1899.[2]

On 26 July, 1906, he was appointed to be captain of the destroyer Lee.[3]

In 1909, Holden was admitted to Haslar Hospital and diagnosed with gonorrhea.[4]

Holden was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1912. In 1913, he began an extended series of medical examinations that focused initially on chronic gastritis and then on neurasthenia. On 12 October, 1913, two days after being retired at his own request, he was discharged from Haslar Hospital. On 15 October, 1914, he was surveyed for consideration of a shore appointment, but was found unfit. Nonetheless, he was appointed for duty with the Director of Naval Equipment on 23 November, 1914.
