George Francis Cholmley (1 September, 1882 – 18 October, 1914) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Cholmley enrolled in the Royal Navy on 15 May, 1897.[1]

Cholmley was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 March, 1904.[2]

Cholmley was appointed Lieutenant & Commander of the depot ship Alecto on 22 May, 1912, and for duty with submarines.[3]

Cholmley was appointed in command of the submarine E 3 in January, 1914.[4] He was still in command when E 3 was lost on 18 October, 1914, and died in the sinking.[5]
