Admiral SIR George Digby Morant, K.C.B., Royal Navy (8 August, 1837 – 13 February, 1921) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Early Life & Career

On 6 February, 1866, he was promoted to the rank of Commander.[1]

Morant was promoted to the rank of Captain on 13 February, 1873.[2]

In July, 1884, he was serving as Commodore of the 2nd Class and Naval Officer in Charge at Hong Kong.[3]

Flag Rank

Morant was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 20 June, 1895, vice Maxwell.[4] He was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 13 March, 1901, vice Culme-Seymour.[5] In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 22 February, 1870 he was placed on the Retired List, at his own request, on 24 May.[6] On the occasion of King Edward VII's birthday, Morant was appointed an Ordinary Member of the Second Class, or Knight Commander, in the Military Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) on 9 November.[7]
