Captain (retired) George Cecil Hardy, R.N. (14 June, 1873 – 28 April, 1942) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of Colonel E. A. Hardy entered Britannia in January, 1886 after placing thirty-eighth in order of merit of the forty candidates for naval cadetship that were accepted for acceptance following a round of examinations in late November, 1885.[1]

Hardy was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June 1895.

Hardy was promoted to the rank of Commander in December, 1905.

Hardy was appointed in command of the first class protected cruiser Royal Arthur on 23 June, 1913.[2]

Hardy was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the rank of Captain on 14 January, 1921.
