Captain George Bennett Weston Young, D.S.O., R.N. (16 January, 1873 – 11 August, 1941) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Young was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in December, 1894.[1]

Young was promoted to the rank of Commander in June, 1906.[2]

Young was appointed in command of the flotilla leader Swift on 1 August, 1912.[3]

Great War

Young was promoted to the rank of Captain in December, 1915.[4]

He was awarded the D.S.O. for his conduct in command of the armed merchant cruiser Andes, gazetted in June, 1918.

Post-War

He was blamed for wedging H.M.S. Conqueror between dock and basin while serving at Portsmouth as Assistant King's Harbour Master.[5]

He was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 16 January, 1924.[6]
