Geoffrey Vance Gordon Beamish

Captain R.N.R. (retired) Geoffrey Vance Gordon Beamish, D.S.C., R.N.R. (4 January, 1895 – 12 August, 1972) served in the Royal Naval Reserve and the Royal Indian Navy.

We know little of his services post-World War I, as he ventured to India.

Life & Career

As a Midshipman, Beamish served in Empress of Asia from 20 July 1915. He was appointed to Template:UK-Suva on 21 October, 1915.[1]

Beamish was promoted to the rank of Sub-Lieutenant R.N.R. on 4 January, 1917. He was appointed to the second class protected cruiser Fox on 23 April, 1917. On 19 June 1918 he was appointed to PC 70.[2]

He saw brief service in the destroyer Seraph and Ark Royal.[3]

He was demobilised upon arriving in India and joined the R.I.M.S., dated 23 June 1919.[4]

Beamish was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 4 January, 1919.[5]

Beamish was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 4 January, 1927.[6]

Beamish was promoted to the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 6 April, 1936.[7]

Beamish was placed on the Retired List at the rank of Captain R.N.R. on 14 December, 1946[8]
