Geoffrey Nicholson

Captain (retired) Geoffrey Nicholson, (10 October, 1887 – ) served in the Royal Navy. He changed his name to Geoffrey de Breton Nicholson in 1944.

Life & Career

Born in East Molesey, the son of H. J. Nicholson, Esq..[1]

Nicholson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 October, 1908.[2][3] He was appointed to the first class protected cruiser Theseus as gunnery officer on 15 June, 1915.[4]

Nicholson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 October, 1916.[5][6] He was appointed to Resolution as gunnery officer on 5 November, 1919.[7]

Nicholson was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1920.

Nicholson was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Captain on 9 February, 1934.[8]

World War II

Sustained a severe injury to a shoulder on 3 December 1940 or 1943.[9]
