Captain (retired) Frederick William Loane, R.N. (19 October, 1855 – 1 January, 1944) served in the Royal Navy.
He is not the same man as Frederick William Long.
Life & Career
Loane was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 27 February, 1879.
Loane was appointed in command of Alecto from 25 October, 1891 to 25 January, 1893.
Loane was placed on the Retired List on account of age with the rank of Commander on 19 October, 1900.
Loane became a Transport Officer during the Great War, serving in Cardiff, Newport and Boulogne.
Reverted to the Retired List on 24 June, 1919, Loane was subsequently promoted to the rank of Captain (retired) in recognition of war services, dated 11 November, 1918.
