Captain Frederick Henry Taylor, C.B.E., D.S.C., R.N. (17 June, 1888 – 1953) was an submarine officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Fulham, the son of the British Consul to Dunkirk..

Taylor was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 July, 1909.

Taylor was appointed in command of the submarines C 21 and C 24 in June, 1913.[1][2] On 23 June, 1915, while in C 24 he successfully sank U 40 off Aberdeen.[3]

Taylor was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 July, 1917.

On 17 January, 1918, while in command of submarine E 48, he torpedoed Template:DE-U156, but the torpedo failed to explode.[4]

On 27 August, 1920, Taylor was appointed in command of the submarine K 11.[5]

Taylor was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1922.

Appointed in command of special service vessel Pigmy from 12 November 1926 to 19 July, 1927, also being in command of the Reserve Half Flotilla.

Taylor was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1930. He retired at his own request on 1 July, 1936.
