Commander (retired) Frederick Hare Hallowes, R.N. (28 April, 1875 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Landport, Hants, the son of Rear-Admiral F. W. Hallowes.
Hallowes was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in June, 1897.
Hallowes commanded a series of torpedo boat destroyers in the years 1904 through 1907, being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in June, 1905. Then, he was appointed to a number of cruisers.
After a brief stint in command of Astræa in 1912, Hallowes was sent to work in the Coast Guard, spending two years at Deal, then three at Dover. In July 1917, he was appointed as Assistant to the Captain Superintending the T.B.Ds. being built. He was still in this role when Hallowes was placed on the Retired List on account of age with the rank of Commander on 28 April, 1920.
