Peyton was appointed in command of {{UK-Vestal}} on the [China Station]] on 28 November, 1901.  He was invalided from the ship on 13 June, 1902 and it seemed clear that his tenure had not impressed Vice-Admiral [[Cyprian Arthur George Bridge]], who wrote that he did not recommend Peyton for advancement, as "[t]his officer was so timid about the seagoing qualities of the ship he commanded, that I do not consider him a proper person to have a command."

Captain (retired) Frank Henry Peyton, R.N. (18 September, 1861 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of Captain S. Peyton was born in Penzance.

Peyton was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1885.

Appointed in command of the training brig Nautilus from 1 September 1894 to 20 January, 1898.

Peyton was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1898.

Peyton was appointed in command of Vestal on the [China Station]] on 28 November, 1901.
