Captain Francis Rowland Scarlett, C.B., D.S.O., R.N. (18 May, 1875 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in October, 1897.

He was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1909.

In mid-April, 1913, Scarlett was appointed to an aviation course. On 17 May he was appointed to Hermes to continue this work. One can only imagine the risks!

Scarlett was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1914.[Citation needed]
