Admiral Evelyn Robert Le Marchant, D.S.O., Royal Navy, Retired (25 January, 1858 – 11 February, 1949) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Early Life & Career

Le Marchant was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1882.[1]

Le Marchant was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1896.[2]

Le Marchant was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1902.[3]

Le Marchant was appointed in command of the Hogue on 20 December, 1906.[4]

Le Marchant was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral dated 19 December, 1912, vice Purey-Cust.[5] In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 8 December, 1903, he was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 14 January, 1913.[6]

Great War

He was appointed a companion of the Distinguished Service Order on 1 January, 1918.[7]

Retirement

Le Marchant was advanced to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 23 October, 1917,[8] and to Admiral on the Retired List on 16 May, 1921.[9]
