Commander (retired) Edward Hugh Meredith Nicholson, D.S.O. (3 September, 1876 – 25 February, 1956) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Newark-on-Trent.
Nicholson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in September, 1898.[1]
Around the turn of the century, the Admiralty thanked him for his invention of a/an "[illeg]iarator for torpedo gyroscope."
On 6 December 1904, he was invalided with multiple neuritis. He was thereafter in a series of hospitals: Haslar, Kind Edward VII, Osborne Convalescent Home.
Retired as unfit on 20 June, 1906, Nicholson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander (retired) on 30 September, 1906. He applied to be replaced on the Active List, and this was refused on 7 February, 1908.[2]
Nicholson was promoted to the rank of Commander on 3 September, 1916.[3]
