Vice-Admiral Daniel McNab Riddel, Royal Navy, Retired (3 November, 1848 – 31 December, 1941) was an officer of the Royal Navy. He served as Flag Captain to Vice-Admiral Sir John A. Fisher on the North America and West Indies Station from 1897 to 1899.

Early Life & Career

Daniel McNab Riddel was born on 3 November, 1848, in Hamilton, Canada, the son of John Riddel.[1]

Riddel was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 December, 1872.[2]

He was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1885.[3]

He was promoted to the rank of Captain dated 30 June, 1892.[4]

He was appointed in command of Renown on 3 August, 1897.[5]

In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 22 February, 1870, he was placed on the Retired List on 3 November, 1903.[6] He was advanced to the rank of Rear-Admiral on the Retired List on 1 January, 1905,[7] and to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 5 November, 1908.[8]
