Two D 3 class divisional torpedo boats were completed for the Imperial German Navy in 1888.

Design & Construction

Galvanized steel construction with one triple expansion engine and two locomotive boilers. They were slightly-lengthened versions of the preceding D 1s[1]

Performance

Gröner gives their speed as 20.3 knots, 310ths of a knot slower than the D 1s.[2]

  • Three 350mm torpedo tubes, four torpedoes

  • Three 50mm/40 caliber quick-firing guns
