Commander Cyril Prescott Franklin, D.S.O., R.N., Retired (29 December, 1883 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Halifax and raised by a guardian, Franklin gained five months' time on passing out of Britannia.

Franklin was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 39 June, 1905.

Franklin was appointed in command of the destroyer Greyhound on 21 October, 1912.[1]

Franklin was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 June, 1913.

On 17 January, 1914, Franklin was appointed in command of the destroyer Ouse.[2]

Post-War

Franklin was superseded in command of the gunboat Aphis on 20 November, 1919 at Budapest by Stephen Phillimore.[3]

Retired at his own request on 7 May, 1920. Franklin was promoted to the rank of Commander (retired) on 29 December, 1923.

World War II

Reverted to Retired List on 15 April, 1943.
