Admiral Cresswell John Eyres, D.S.O., O.B.E., Royal Navy, Retired (20 March, 1862 – 12 October, 1949) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Eyres was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 20 September, 1882.[1]
Eyres was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1897.[2]
Captain
Eyres was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1903.[3]
He was appointed in command of the Spartiate on 14 July, 1905.[4]
He was appointed in command of Jupiter on 18 June, 1907.[5]
He was appointed in command of the battleship Irresistible on 1 May, 1908.[6]
Eyres was appointed a Naval Aide-de-Camp to King George V on 20 September, 1912, vice Campbell.[7] He was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 23 June, 1913.[8]
Great War
In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 8 December, 1903, Eyres was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 18 December, 1914,[9] and was advanced to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 1 September, 1918.[10] He was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 1 June, 1922.[11]
