Vice-Admiral (retired) Charles Tibbits, C.B.E., M.V.O., (19 June, 1872 – 13 October, 1947) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Tibbits was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1893.[1]

Lieutenant Tibbits was appointed to command the destroyer Bat on 3 August, 1897,[2] but this was cancelled in favour of the same posting in Shark.[3]

Tibbits was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1905.[4]

As a Commander, Tibbits was appointed in command of the Argonaut, which was to train stokers in Portsmouth, on 1 January 1913.[5]

Tibbits was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1913.[6]

Great War

He was appointed in command of the battleship Albion on 25 October, 1916.[7]

Post-War

Tibbits was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 23 May, 1924 and was placed on the Retired List at his own request the next day.[8]

Tibbits was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 24 March, 1929.[9]
