Captain (retired) Charles Harold Jones, D.S.O., R.N. (24 January, 1884 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Capetown, South Africa, Jones entered the navy with the Archbishop of Capetown listed as his "nearest relative". With the power of the clergy in place, Jones gained four months' time on passing out of Britannia.
Jones was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1905.
Jones was appointed in command of the destroyer Havock on 8 August, 1910.[1]
Jones was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 December, 1913.
On 14 January, 1914, he was appointed in command of the destroyer Cherwell.[2]
On 28 August, 1916, he was appointed in command of the submarine Parthian.[3]
Jones was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1918.
Post-War
Jones was promoted to the rank of Captain on 24 January, 1929.
