Forty-five candidates were accepted from competitive examinations which started on 15 November, 1904 for the January, 1905 term of H.M.S. Britannia. Their standing, in order of merit, was as follows.[1]

Cedric Swinton Holland and C. W. F. Morgan were accepted as Service Cadets.

Frederic Thornton Peters and Alan Kerr McClintock Halliley were accepted as Colonial Cadets.

From September 1903 entries were also made to the Royal Naval College, Osborne under the Selborne Scheme. The Britannia was closed in July 1905 after the May entry, which was sent to Bermuda with the January entry. The following two terms under the old scheme were sent straight to the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth.
