Bernard Edwin Abbott

Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. (temporary) Bernard Edwin Abbott, O.B.E., R.N.R. (22 May, 1887 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Abbott was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 31 December, 1916.[1]

Abbott served in Biarritz from March to October 1918 and then undertook training in paddle minesweepers.[2]

Abbott was promoted to the rank of Temporary Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 1 April, 1918 and placed in charge of minesweeping operation at Aden, where he served under Captain Boyle.[3]

On 3 December 1918 he was invalided with chronic cystitis. He was demobilised upon his arrival in Australia on 15 June, 1919.[4]
