Rear-Admiral SIR Basil Vernon Brooke, G.C.V.O, R.N., Retired (9 March, 1876 – 11 December, 1945) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Raised by his mother.

Brooke was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1898.

Brooke was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1909.[1]

Brooke was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1916.

In October 1916, he assumed command of the scout cruiser Blonde.

He was appointed command of the light cruiser Southampton on 15 February, 1917.[2]

Brooke was placed on the Retired List on 3 July, 1922.

Brooke was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral (retired) on 1 July, 1927.
