Vice-Admiral (retired) Aubrey Lambert (18 June, 1879 – 28 May, 1938) was a torpedo officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Nottingham.

Lambert was awarded nine months seniority on passing out of Britannia in July, 1895. He was appointed to Trafalgar, additional, on 20 August. He served in her in the Mediterranean for the better part of a year before being appointed to her as a proper element of her complement on 5 May, 1896.

Lambert was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1901.

In June, 1904 he qualified as a torpedo lieutenant, second class.

On 30 September, 1907 he was sent to H.M.S. Vernon to qualify for torpedo lieutenant.

Lambert was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1913.

Great War

On 8 May, 1918, Lambert was appointed to the light cruiser Carysfort.[1] He was made Acting Captain in her on 16 August, 1918 and subsequently promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1918.

He was appointed in command of the light cruiser Cairo on 19 April, 1919.[2]

Lambert was appointed in command of the battlecruiser Courageous in March, 1927.

Lambert was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 4 April, 1930 and was placed on the Retired List the following day.

Lambert was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 19 July, 1935.
