Commander Arthur Sydney Chambers, R.N., Retired (7 March, 1875 – 22 January, 1926.) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Chambers was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 August, 1896.

Chambers was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 August, 1904.

Chambers was appointed to Duncan as first officer on 1 February, 1908. In his first ten days there, he was reported for an excessive wine bill, incurring the Admiralty's severe displeasure, but Captain Ewart evaluated Chambers as a "markedly efficient executive officer who commands & leads the men well", and specifically noted that Chambers had reined in his drinking.

Chambers was promoted to the rank of Acting Commander on 5 August, 1917.

Chambers was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 October, 1919.

Died after suffering for two years with cirrhosis of the liver.
