Commander (retired) Arthur Swinfen Durance George (4 August, 1884 – 10 November, 1940) was an officer in the Royal Navy. One Service Record has him as "Swynfen", but the Navy List and other Service Record have it with an "i".

Life & Career

George was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1906.

George was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 June, 1914.

George was appointed in command of the destroyer Saracen in August, 1914.[1]

George was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1919.

He was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 4 August, 1922.

World War II

Called up, but with gout in foot and in ill health. He died of bronchial issues in November 1940.
