Captain Arthur Russell Hulbert, Royal Navy (9 April, 1871 – 12 January, 1913) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Early Life & Career

He was mentioned in despatches for his service with the Naval Brigade in China.

Hulbert was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1908.[1]

In December 1910, he assumed command of the second class protected cruiser Highflyer.[2]

On 14 November, 1911, he was appointed in command of the second class protected cruiser Venus as Captain (D) of the Seventh Destroyer Flotilla.[3]

He was appointed to the scout cruiser Blonde on 10 May, 1912 in command of the First Destroyer Flotilla.[4]

Hulbert drowned at Harwich on 12 January, 1913. He had been seen walking on the quarterdeck of the Blonde at 0920.[5] A man on the neighbouring depot ship Tyne saw a splash, but dismissed it as a sailor taking a morning swim.[6]
