Vice-Admiral (retired) Arthur Kenneth Macrorie, C.M.G., M.V.O. (6 June, 1874 – 25 November, 1947) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Macrorie was raised by a Captain Acland, perhaps the eventual Admiral Sir William Alison Dyke Acland, Bart..[1]

Macrorie was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1896.[2]

Macrorie was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1907.[3]

Great War

Macrorie was promoted to the rank of Captain on 24 April, 1914.[4]

Macrorie was appointed Captain of Juno on 1 August, 1914. He would command her until 24 May 1915 as a component of Cruiser Force E.

In June 1915, he assumed command of the first class protected cruiser Theseus. He remained with the ship until August 1918.

Post-War

Macrorie was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 2 September, 1924.[5]

He commanded Emperor of India from November 1922 until May 1924.

Macrorie was advanced to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 1 August, 1929.[6]

Macrorie's funeral took place on 29 November 1947 at Aldinbourne, Chichester. The Reverend H. A. King officiated.
