Admiral Arthur Hildebrand Alington, J.P., Royal Navy, Retired (10 October, 1839 – 7 December, 1925) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Alington was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 October, 1879.[1]

On 1 May, 1895, Alington hoisted his flag in Empress of India at Devonport as Second-in-Command of the Channel Squadron.[2]

In accordance with the provisions of the Orders in Council of 26 June, 1886 and 22 February, 1870 Alington was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 13 January, 1899.[3] He was advanced to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 1 January, 1901,[4] and was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 16 June, 1904.[5]
