Captain (retired) Arthur Edward Hext Wright, D.S.O. (7 February, 1886 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Wright was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1908.[1]

Wright was appointed Lieutenant & Commander of first-class torpedo boat T.B. 10 on 30 June, 1913.[2] In October, 1913 T.B. 10 collided with Zephyr and Wright was told to be more careful in future.[3]

Wright was appointed Lieutenant in Command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 18 on 21 January, 1914.[4]

Wright was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 June, 1916. During 1916, he was made Senior Naval Officer, Torpedo Boats at Salonika.[5]

On 30 November, 1917, Wright was appointed in command of the destroyer Venetia.[6]

Post-War

Wright was invested with the D.S.O. for service in the Second Destroyer Flotilla in the Baltic on 2 December 1920 and then promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December.[7]

Wright was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the rank of Captain on 7 May, 1932.[8]

World War II

Wright was mobilised on 26 September, 1938. He was appointed as Naval Officer in Charge, Humber in August 1939, in late 1940 Wright was sent to be Maintenance Captain on the Staff of Captain (D), Liverpool.
