Commander (retired) Archibald Gilbert, O.B.E. (5 June, 1880 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of a gentleman, Gilbert was admitted to Britannia in January, 1894 as forty-sixth of fifty-eight candidates in order of merit after competitive examinations.[1]

Gilbert was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1901.

Gilbert was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 December, 1909.

Gilbert was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Commander in July 1923.

World War II

Admitted to hospital in Chatham in 1942 with a "paranoid personality."
