Lieutenant Alton Wishart (16 January, 1887 – 16 August, 1913) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Southsea.

Wishart was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 May, 1908.[1]

On 4 January, 1910, he was appointed to Mercury for instruction in submarines. On 28 March, he was appointed to C 14.[2]

Married on 12 August, 1911 to Rosalind Mary Fourain. On 14 November, 1912, he left C 14 for an appointment in command of the submarine A 13. In March, he damaged two torpedoes in the submarine and was chastised for the lack of organization within his boat. Wishart's next, and final appointment was in command of the submarine B 4, dated 19 March, 1913. In late July, 1913 Wishart injured his kidney in a bicycle accident in which he collided with a cart. He required surgery and died in mid-August.[3]
