Admiral Alfred John Chatfield, C.B., Royal Navy, Retired (27 August, 1831 – 25 August, 1910) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

He was appointed Captain Superintendent of Pembroke Royal Dockyard on 8 October, 1882.[1]

Flag Rank

Chatfield was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 1 January, 1886.[2]

On the occasion of Queen Victoria's golden jubilee, he was appointed an Ordinary Member of the Third Class, or Companion, in the Military Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (C.B.) on 21 June, 1887.[3]

In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 22 February, 1870, Chatfield was placed on the Retired List on 27 August, 1891.[4] He was promoted to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 23 August, 1897.[5]

He was advanced to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 10 September, 1891.[6]
