Captain Alfred Creighton Collinson, C.B.E. (15 May, 1893 – 1970) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Collinson passed out of Royal Naval College, Dartmouth in April, 1910 tied for 44th in rank of 77 cadets in marks on the Part I examination.[1]

Collinson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 October, 1915. Collinson was appointed to the destroyer Moon on 9 November, 1915 and fought in her at the Battle of Jutland as part of the Eleventh Destroyer Flotilla.[2]

Collinson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 October, 1923.[3]

Collinson was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1929.[4]

Collinson was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1935.[5]

World War II

Appointed as Commodore in Charge at Hong Kong in November 1940, he was taken prisoner of war by the Japanese in 1942.[6]

He was placed on the Retired List on 5 July, 1945.[7]

Reverted to the Retired List on 26 December, 1946.[8]
