Captain Alfred Creighton Collinson, C.B.E. (15 May, 1893 – 1970) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Collinson passed out of Royal Naval College, Dartmouth in April, 1910 tied for 44th in rank of 77 cadets in marks on the Part I examination.[1]

Collinson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 October, 1915. Collinson was appointed to the destroyer Moon on 9 November, 1915 and fought in her at the Battle of Jutland as part of the Eleventh Destroyer Flotilla.

Collinson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 October, 1923.

Collinson was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1929.

Collinson was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1935.

World War II

Appointed as Commodore in Charge at Hong Kong in November 1940, he was taken prisoner of war by the Japanese in 1942.

He was placed on the Retired List on 5 July, 1945.

Reverted to the Retired List on 26 December, 1946.
