Alexander Plantagenet Hastings
Admiral Alexander Plantagenet Hastings, C.B., Royal Navy, Retired (31 October, 1844 – 7 December, 1925) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 9 August, 1865.
Promoted to the rank of Commander on 19 July, 1870.
Promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1878.
Hastings commanded the armoured frigate Black Prince in the Annual Manoeuvres of 1890. His ship was part of Fleet Number 1 playing the role of the Royal Navy fending off attacks on British trade routes.[1]
He was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 1 January, 1894.[2]
Hastings was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 21 March, 1900, vice Lord Walter Kerr.[3]
He was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 16 June, 1904.[4]
