Admiral SIR Alexander Buller, G.C.B., Royal Navy (30 June, 1834 – 3 October, 1903) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

His sons, Henry Tritton Buller and Francis Alexander Waddilove Buller were also to become Flag Officers in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Buller was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 10 April, 1855.

Buller was promoted to the rank of Commander on 10 June, 1863.

Buller was promoted to the rank of Captain on 15 December, 1869.

Buller was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 1 January, 1887.

Buller was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 26 March, 1892, vice Sulivan.[1]

On the occasion of the Queen's birthday he was appointed an Ordinary Member of the Second Class, or Knight Commander, in the Military Division of the Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) on 20 May, 1896.[2]

He was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 11 December, 1897, vice Nicholson.[3]

Buller was appointed an Additional Member of the First Class, or Knight Grand Cross, in the Military Division of the Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) on 26 June, 1902.[4]
