York McLeod Cleeves

Captain R.N.R. York McLeod Cleeves, D.S.O., D.S.C., R.D. (9 December, 1896 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Cleeves served in Armadale Castle from the outbreak of the war through 18 June, 1916. He then joined Hyacinth until 24 January, 1917. He laater served in Albacore and Montbretia.[1]

Cleeves was appointed to Maidstone for submarines on 8 November, 1918.[2]

Cleeves was demobilised on 9 June, 1919.[3]

Cleeves was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 9 December, 1919.[4]

Cleeves was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 8 December, 1927.[5]

World War II

Cleeves was promoted to the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 31 December, 1939.[6]

Cleeves was promoted to the rank of Captain R.N.R. on 31 December, 1944. He retired on 1 July, 1950.[7]
