Rear-Admiral Reginald Maurice James Hutton, C.B., C.B.E., D.S.O.**, R.N. (28 September, 1899 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of shipping merchant R. C. Hutton, Esq..

During the Great War, Hutton served in Indomitable at the Battle of Jutland. Leaving the ship on 28 January, 1918, he took coruses in gunnery and Torpedo Control and then was sent to join P48 on 2 March. He would serve the rest of the war in that capacity.[1]

Hutton was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 October, 1919.[2]

Hutton was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 October, 1927.[3]

Hutton was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1932.[4]

World War II

Commanded Laforey from 10 April, 1941 through 30 September, 1943. He was Captain (D) of Nineteenth Destroyer Flotilla from 29 August, 1941 through the end.[5]

Hutton was promoted to the rank of Captain on 11 December, 1940.[6]

Hutton was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 7 January, 1950 and placed on the Retired List as medically unfit on 8 January, 1953.[7]
