Captain R.N.R. Maurice Jeffery Dabbs Mayall, R.D., R.N.R. (17 October, 1882 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve. The Navy List has his middle name as "Jeffrey", but his Service Records agree on "Jeffery".

Life & Career

Mayall was appointed to the armoured cruiser Natal on 10 February, 1914. He was promoted the in this appointment the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 10 February, 1915 and re-appointed to the ship until perhaps May 1915.[1]

Mayall was appointed to the armoured cruiser Shannon from 3 August, 1916 through 26 November, 1917. Freshly qualified in Torpedo Control duties, Mayall was appointed in command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 1 on 22 March, 1918.[2]

Mayall was demobilised on 4 March, 1919 upon his arrival in Canada. He carried out training in Canada in 1921 and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 10 February, 1923.[3]

Mayall was promoted to the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 30 June, 1926, having been been strongly recommended by Admiral Sir Edmond Slade, based on his knowledge of Mayall's "character and abilities."[4]

Mayall was promoted to the rank of Captain R.N.R. on 30 June, 1932.[5]
