Ivor Francis Chichester

Commander Ivor Francis Chichester, O.B.E., R.N. (6 November, 1876 – 22 March, 1955) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of Major Chichester.

Chichester was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 November, 1897.[1]

Chichester was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 November, 1905.[2]

Chichester was appointed to the second class protected cruiser Isis as First and Gunnery Officer from 2 February to 27 September 1909. The Admiralty noted that unsatisfactory results in Gunlayer's Tests in the destroyer Isis during May could not be entirely attributed to defective gun [illeg].[3]

Chichester was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 31 May, 1912.[4]

Chichester was promoted to the rank of Commander on 6 November, 1916.[5]

He reverted to the Retired List on 1 April, 1919.[6]
