Hugh Talbot Burgoyne
Life & Career
Born in Ireland, Burgoyne was awarded a V.C. when he was 21 years old, for his exploits in a landing party during the Crimean War.
Burgoyne died when his masted turret ship Captain capsized in a gale off Cape Finisterre. The ship had been poorly designed, with very little freeboard and exceedingly heavy turrets.
