Horace Victor Silk

Commander (retired) Horace Victor Silk, (28 November, 1889 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in London, the son of Dr. J. F. W. Silk.[1]

Silk was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1911.[2]

Silk was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 December, 1919.[3]

On 12 March 1924, he was admitted to Plymouth Naval Hospital to be treated for an inguinal hernia on the left side.[4]

In February 1926, Silk was appointed in command of Herald upon joining, to be in charge of surveying.[5]

Silk was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Commander on 1 January, 1934.[6]

World War II

Appointed to the Hydrographic Department on 7 September, 1939.[7]
