Henry Leigh

Lieutenant-Commander Henry Leigh, (18 April, 1882 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Leigh was born in South Claughton, the son of Alexander H. Leigh who worked on the stock exchange.

Leigh was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1903.[1]

Leigh was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 June, 1911.[2]

In January, 1914, he was appointed to the armoured cruiser Hampshire as first and gunnery officer. He was subjected to a Court Martial for being found in his cabin at night, with lights out, with an ordinary seaman and dismissed the service just ten days before the outbreak of the Great War.[3]
