H.M.S. Vansittart was one of fifteen destroyers of the Modified "W" class. She was completed after the war.
Service
Vansittart was commissioned on 22 October, 1919.[8]
She was re-commissioned at Chatham on 8 October, 1923. By March 1925, she was part of the Fourth Destroyer Flotilla in the Mediterranean.[9]
She was re-commissioned at Devonport on 29 April, 1926 for continued service with the Fourth Destroyer Flotilla in the Mediterranean.[10]
The ship re-commissioned on 21 August, 1928 for service with the Fourth Destroyer Flotilla in the Mediterranean.[11]
Vansittart was re-commissioned at Chatham with Reserve Crew on 2 May, 1930.[12]
Reduced to Maintenance Reserve at Rosyth on 27 May, 1932.[13]
In June of 1933, her bell was one of about 100 surplus bells announced as being for sale at prices ranging from £1 to £10. Preference would be given to those offers from men with a special consideration in the bell in question.[14]
