Service

Torrid joined the Tenth Destroyer Flotilla upon her commissioning in May, 1917 under the command of Lieutenant-Commander Ernest Walter Kirkby. She operated with the flotilla under his direction as part of the Harwich Force through the end of the war until it was disbanded in February, 1919, at which time Torrid was placed in reserve at Devonport.

She completed to reduced Crew on 20 October, 1919.[8]

She was commissioned at Devonport with Reserve Crew on 12 November, 1925.[9]

Re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 1 February, 1927 for work the the Portland Anti-Submarine Flotilla.[10] By mid-1931, this was called the First Anti-Submarine Flotilla, Portland.[11]

After many years of continuous operation with the Anti-Submarine Flotilla out of Portland and a brief stint as Local Defence destroyers based on Alexandria, Thruster, Rowena and Torrid paid off into Reserve at The Nore on 11 June, 1936.[12]
